FREEDOM OF THOUGHT

In this world full of love and hate, we also make friends and enemies. We have those
friends who will stay by our side no matter what and through our ups and downs. Someone who
will not hesitate lend his or her shoulder for us to cry on. However, there are also people who
hates us maybe because we did something terrible to them, show our vehemently disagreement
or it can be simply because they just don’t like us.
If it is not hard for us to make friends, it is not impossible for us to have foes either. Even
if you are the kindest or the most harmful person, student or professionals, from the poorest to
the most powerful man, all of us have an enemy. Just like what Elias uttered to Crisostomo
Ibarra, “enmity is the law of life”, and that is the sad reality of life.
The society is not actually cruel; it only became worse because of the people who will do
everything just to have power and money. They are the one who doesn’t care if they hurt or harm
someone just to get what they wanted. They will treat anyone as their adversary as long as they
see them as a threat and bring them down. Even you choose to be righteous and live your life
following the rules for if their judgments are wrong they will treat you as an antagonist.
Friends change our life for the better while enemies fill our life with negativities. We
have foes that we are not aware of unlike how we know all of our friends. They are the one who
attacks us secretly and they are the most dangerous. People like them are unjust and difficult to
deal with. The saddest part of having an enemy is that the people you once treat as your friend
could turn to be your worst enemy most likely in the form of betrayal.
Having this kind of horrible law of life, cause us to have trust issues and lost our faith in
men. However, we should never lose our faith in God like Elias did because God has fair
judgments unlike mankind who only favors and supports those people they know will benefit
with.
