Night and Dawn
Jeremy Braza
"I die without seeing the dawn brighten over my native land. You who have it to see, welcome it - and
forget not those who have fallen during the night!"
-Elias to Basilio

The final words of Elias to Basilio
reminds us the words of agony and hope of a wishful defender. Words that emphasizes the depicts
importance of remembering all those sacrifices made by the people who love their country so deeply
that they rather choose to die for the sake of their motherland which hold a thousand of lives and
dreams. Night symbolizes the time of corruption, chaos, and confusion, while dawn represents the hope
and future that awaits to us. Just as dawn begins a new day, Elías hopes that a new era will dawn on the
Philippines.
