Bamboo (Bambusa spp) is an adaptable plant that is capable to survive inmany conditions. It is the main reason why this plant symbolizes resilience. Being
resilient means being able to recover quickly from difficulties. Bamboo plant wasused as a symbol in the famous novel "Noli Me Tangere" of Dr. Jose Rizal. Sisa,
one of the main characters of the said novel, thought to have represented themotherland who was suffering as her character have suffered with the loss of her
children. The tragic events that ruined her life represented the abuse that the motherland received from her colonizers.

Our country, Philippines, was colonized by different powerful countries. Ourcountrymen experienced all kinds of abuse, torture, and discrimination. We have
been under the colonizers for such a very long time.
