POESIA TRESE:

DEAF

By: Tiffany Mae Nuelan

can you hear?
the deafening screams of people silenced,
swallowed by the darkness of the cold, eerie nights
where the ghosts of yesterday linger still

can you hear?
the soft giggles and thundering laughter
of people with power and riches,
as the feast before them guarantees the status
where the hands they possess are the hands that rule

can you hear?
the despairing cries of victims forgotten,
visiting the nightmares of their undaunted perpetrators
when the justice relentlessly sought will never be served

can you hear?
the invisible shackles clanging,
pulling the weak back to the depths of hell
where the abuse will continue, will always be endured

can you hear?
no.
