To see something as a whole is not an ability everyone has. Only a few people can fully see the horizon and one of them is Jose Rizal, our celebrated national hero.

Choosing to go against the flow and to stand to what he think was right, that is Rizal. His unwavering determination combined with his benevolence and altruistic motives has pushed him to be the best he can be for the Filipinos and the nation. Founding “Propaganda,” a ceaseless campaign for freedom hoping that the pleas of Filipinos will be heard and answered.

Everyone experiences crisis in their lives. Some have been on the same shoes. As they look at their horizons, there will always be a difference. A narrow perspective is described in puny horizon where everything is solely for self-interest.

Widening your horizon will let you see the whole picture but only looking without doing anything is similar to a witness letting the perpetrator harm the victim. Will you remain ignorant to your responsibilities? Be your own Rizal who will not look but will muster his courage to speak about the injustices. Be someone who is not afraid to use his intellect for the betterment of his nation and countrymen. Remember if Rizal made a difference, you can also make a difference.

As the nation marks the martyrdom of Rizal, it is only fitting to look once again at the way he lived his brief life, to be inspired to move forward for ourselves and for nation.
