We have known that Dr. Jose Rizal was widely recognized for loving our
very own country. His fondness towards it underlies the solidity of his countrymen.
Having it known for a long time has truly succored us from building a strong nation. Of
all these naked truths there is one thing that comes to my mind, “Where does this
affection come from?
His inspiring stories taught me about how he lived with delightful memories
during his childhood. He spent his premature years with a blessed home, giving him the
essential comfort of life. His mother, Teodora, has never failed him to show her great
love. She carried his baby Jose in her arms every night to make him feel her warmth on
a cold and sweet night. Perhaps, this is the root of Rizal’s attachment for our country.
Together with the love of his mother there is his father, Francisco Mercado, built a nipa
cottage for him to play. It seems to me that their love and support to our Rizal signifies
as to what Rizal showed to our home country. The history of fondness they showed him
reminds me of why we should love and fight for our country.
Rizal’s reckless love for the country made me feel like the warmth he felt from his
parental affection. It made me realize that his adaptation of the love and sacrifices of his
parents have shown to our beloved country. If it is not for his parents, I don’t think this
country would be as tough as Rizal.
