Taken from the Past

When people say we first learn at our homes,

A picture of a mom comes to my mind

Do mothers teach when we are in their wombs?

Or do they teach when we grow well and kind?

Did Pepe's mother teach him how to write?

For he reads well and knows morality.

Was he trained physically for a fight?

For she taught goodness and reality

Like other kids today, he struggled too.

But Tio Jose was there to guide him.

From him, he learned to be strong as they do

Now he lets his artwork and wisdom scream.

We have learned lessons taken from the past.

And his sacrifices paid off at last.
