“Childhoods never lasts. But everyone deserves one” – Wendy Dale
The best memories come from our childhood days. It’s the purest thing that I'll treasure for the rest of my life. The joys and laughter that I shared during playtime, the pain and wound that I get when stumbled, and the innocence about everything. I had a lot of fun when I was little and probably every child has these kinds of memories but not our greatly respected Jose
Rizal. He spent his childhood fighting for freedom.
Jose Rizal had many beautiful memories in his native town. Its scenic beauties, also the hospitality and diligence of people in his town, did have a great influence on his mind and character. He does love the arts, playing to Usman (his dog), riding a horse, and listening to the
humming of birds as his past time. But what makes Rizal’s childhood unique is that he bravely
sacrificed his life for millions of people. He's considered as the dauntless “gamo-gamo” that
threw himself to a vehement fire, not for a play but to fight against persecuting people.
His childhood was indeed different but I still considered it as wonderful as mine. It made
me realize what he truly meant in his quotation “ Ang Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan”.
